The morning after

As Duran Duran sings "Save a prayer for the morning after." As you have seen in my previous posts, I felt like a loser no matter who would have won the election. Do we go a little bit to the left or do we go way to the left? Now we know.

The sun rose today. I am still on the right side of the ground. THERE IS NOTHING THAT
O-BUM-A CAN DO TO BRING ME DOWN. I refuse to cry and moan about things I cannot change. I will make sure my family stays secure. I will do everything I can to make sure that Socialism does not happen here.

The United States of America is the greatest country in the history of the earth. O-BUM-A cannot change that.

Get that voice out of my head!

Have any of you ever heard of an ear worm? In case you don't know, an ear worm is when you hear a song or a voice or sound and you can't get it out of your head. To some people, it is a dentist's drill. To others it is the Macarena. To me, it is O-bum-a. Everywhere I listen, talk radio, oldies music stations, the baseball playoffs - EVERYWHERE, I hear "This is Barrack O-bum-a and I approve this message." I have two words in reply, "SHUT UP!" I guess you could throw in an obscenity but that's not my style.

O-bum-a is everywhere. He's on the professional wrestling website that's one of my favorites (yes, I know it's fake but so is a soap opera), he's on an exercise website I was browsing, he was even on a website my kids were at. I have gotten to the point that I need less than a second to know it's another commercial and I change the channel but the voice is there. Hopefully he will be like a pet rock. A fad that fades as fast as it came.

I'm not watching the debate tonight

As everyone who knows me knows, I am a conservative. Tonight is the third debate for President. I intensely dislike Barrack O-bum-a and have no use for Senor McCain. But since I like Sarah Palin's style, I am going to hold my nose and vote for McCain. The question for tonight is if Senor McCain is going to show up. O-bum-a has set up so many things that Senor should be blasting out of the park, but since Senor wants to run an "honorable" campaign, he hasn't even hit a foul ball. Hell, a blindfolded kid would make more contact with a pinata that McCain has.

"Snap out of it! Since you don't have anyone around you who will give you the "straight talk" I will. You're losing. Up to now, you haven't even been in the game. You have been so boring, I didn't even watch the second debate. And you performed down to my expectations. You have an opponent that is a bold faced liar and your response has been "He's an honorable man."

Look, you showed you had some 'nads last week. For a day. Then it seemed that someone told you that the moderates didn't like that. Then you became Senor Oatmeal again. Newsflash - the moderates don't like you. The only reason they pretended to like you was that you didn't like George Bush. Now guess what - you're George Bush 44. Do you feel like an idiot? You should.

What should you do? Be like Bill Murray in Caddyshack. Walk up to the flowers and swing for the fences. Bill Ayers? Fore! Rev. Wright? Fore! ACORN? Fore! Franklin Raines? Fore! Not knowing that there are 50 states in the United States? My 8 year old daughter know that there are 50 states in the US. Fore! Redistribution of wealth? Fore! Gun ownership? Fore! The life of the unborn? Fore!

QUIT BEING SENOR OATMEAL! SHOW THEM THE ANGER YOU'RE KNOWN FOR. GO FOR THE JUGULAR! NOTHING CAN BE LEFT ON THE TABLE. If you don't, all of the goodwill Sarah Palin creates for you, will be wasted.

I guess if you can't do this, you can have the same political career as Walter Mondale, George McGovern, John Edwards, Bob Dole...

What does regulation have to do with anything?

I keep hearing about how more regulations would have stopped the financial crisis that is happening now. I call BS on this. The crisis was created by CEOs who intentionally broke the laws. Just because you have more rules, if someone doesn't want to follow them, they won't. It is against the law to drive if you're impared. I someone decides to do it anyway, they will. You just hope no one gets hurt. You can't legislate people doing the right thing. However, you must punish the ones who do the wrong thing.

PS - Why hasn't Franklin Raines been frog marched for his razing of Fannie Mae?

Hi - I'm Franklin Raines

Do you remember the old American Express commercials? You know - the ones that have someone holding their card and saying, "Hi, do you know me?" I think it's time that we had a new commercial featuring someone we should all know.

Hi, do you know me? I'm Franklin Raines - Barak Obama's economics advisor. You may not remember me as the fired CEO of Fannie Mae, but here's my story:

http://money.cnn.com/2004/12/21/news/fortune500/fannie/index.htm

Now you might be saying that I caused major losses for Fannie Mae, but you know what? I got mine. So did Jamie Gorelick, but that's another story.

http://groups.google.com/group/misc.news.internet.discuss/browse_thread/thread/b5670bb220ba523c/c935ebbe40e9c593?lnk=raot

Even two months ago, I said that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac did not need a bail out.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/07/15/AR2008071502426.html

So, no one's perfect. With help from soon-to-be President Obama, I promise to use my experiences to make America as stable as Fannie Mae.

Those who can't rebut cry racism

I have had enough of this! Jack Cafferty of CNN is saying that racism is the only reason O-bum-a hasn't wrapped this election up. Here is the link:

http://caffertyfile.blogs.cnn.com/2008/09/16/obama-race-a-factor/

Did you ever think that most people won't vote for O-bum-a because he's wrong on every item that's important to America today?

Jack, since you seem to be a simple man, I will quote a simple man for you to understand.

"Stupid is as stupid does." - Forrest Gump

Jack, you are a stupid man.

BUSH IS GOD!!!

This summary is not available. Please click here to view the post.

Joe Lieberman's speech

It was everything I could do not to fall asleep while Senator Lieberman spoke. He is about as exciting as mud. All I could think of while he spoke was the father from the TV show Alf. I just kept hearing the dad tell Alf not to eat the cat. I guess he did tell people to vote for Senator McCain. That was the object of the speech.

I'm back

Sorry about the long time between posts. I was so sick of the presidential race that I couldn't even look at my own site. However after the way Sarah Palin has been treated, I'm back and it's game on. No more telling stories to get my point across. No more beating around the bushes. It's just going to be raw, straight forward opinions. If you've got a problem with that, leave or try to convince me otherwise. The liberals can only name call and swear, not discuss sensibly. But that's okay, let's get ready to rumble!

Miscellaneous gun notes

I am very encouraged by the Supreme Court's recent ruling confirming the individual's right to own a firearm. To me that is the only way you could read that admendment. There was so much frontierland at the end of the Revolution, you had to have something to protect yourself and your family. You also needed a gun to shoot and kill the food you wanted to eat. I know that some people look at the admendment as protection against the government, but if the government's out to get you, your .45 won't be of much help. However, if some criminal wants to come into my house, the .45 will be A LOT of help.

Did you see where the Texas man who killed the two men breaking into his neighbor's home was found innocent? He successfully convinced a jury that he was protecting himself. Wouldn't you know that the victims were two ILLIGAL immigrants? That brought out the racial bigotry charges and civil rights advocates. What was the 911 operator's instructions to the man before he went out and confronted the ILLEGAL immigrants? Stay in your house and LIE IN A FETAL POSITION UNTIL THE POLICE ARRIVE. (Ok, I threw in that last part but that's what they meant.) Not in America - you want some, come get some.

The Chicago Tribune printed an editorial on June 27 saying that the second admendment should be appealed. Maybe it's because they're getting a share of the crime proceeds from the crime on the south side. Maybe they think that the criminals will get rid of their guns if the victims are unarmed. Or maybe they think that the police will be able to stop every crime before it happens. The police are great, but they can't be everywhere. As my Dad told me, I would rather have the gun and not need it, than need the gun and not have it.

Bring it on

I am sitting here reading an article in The American Thinker stating that author George Monbiot (the inspiration for the term "moonbat") saying that he plans on trying to arrest John Bolton (the former UN Ambassador) for war crimes. All I can think of is what my father told me as a child, "We're gonna go out back and one of us is gonna get his butt kicked." I'm thinking that a limp-wristed bitch slap isn't going to do much. I just hope that Ambassador Bolton is allowed to teach the sheriff wanna-be the lesson he is looking for.

What has happened to my party?

As many of you may have noticed, I really like politics but don't like to specifically call out the candidates. However, I am so disappointed in the Republicans right now that I will probably end up sitting out this election. I consider myself a Reagan/Limbaugh conservative. In my opinion, that means to be optimistic about the future, have a strong military, and give everyone an opportunity to better themselves. I just don't see that happening with Sen. John McCain in charge.

I am reading remarks by Sen. Lindsay Graham, Gov. Arnold Schwartzenegger, Gov. Mike Huckabee and Sen. McCain himself talking about how the Republicans need to sell themselves as a kindler, gentler center of the road party. They want to talk about global warming, immigration, and government spending. Why? Because they want to be inclusive.

You know what? So do I. However, I do not want to move to the center. Global warming is nothing more than alchemy of the 21st century. Not more than thirty years ago, we were warned about global cooling. So you're telling me that man has completely reversed this trend and have gone too far? If that were possible, I would create a weapon out of it and have it in my arsenal. Worried about a nuclear bomb? We'll just make your country a desert if you give us a reason! Give me a break.

Immigration? I read an article saying that the government is creating deportation camps. I'm sure that Sen. McCain (in this case, Sen. stands for Senor) will find this despicable. I don't know that for sure, just a hunch. In my opinion, what took so long? We are not talking about detention camps like the ones the Japanese were confined to in World War II. We are talking about large capacity jails. Yes jails. The ILLEGAL immigrants are here ILLEGALLY! There are approximately 20 million reasons that this is a good idea.

The next question will be, "What about the children of the ILLEGAL immigrants that are born here?"

That question has already been answered. Ask the lady who claimed sanctuary in Chicago. We deport the ILLEGAL immigrants that have been caught and give the family the option of taking the legal citizen back to the origin country with them, or leave them in foster care in the US. Cruel? I don't think so. If you ask the ILLEGAL immigrants why they are here, they will say to have a better life (the jobs are here etc.). If you love your child that much, you will leave him here to have the life you always wanted. If not, then please take him/her home with you.

The one area I have a cautious approval for Sen. McCain is government spending. He has always been vigilant in fighting pork barrel spending. I'm afraid that he'll change once he gets in charge. To get along, he'll roll over and hope they rub his belly.

One last message for Sen. McCain, please quit sending me requests for money. I am a proud card carrying Republican. I just wish you were.

What has happened to this society?

Hello everyone. Sorry about the lapse in time from my last post. I have been on vacation, sick for about a month, and work has been keeping me busy. I have a lot of things I want to discuss but will only hit the big one today.

In the first week of April, the family and I went to DisneyWorld. It was the first time I had been there. It is pretty overwhelming! However, the mass transportation system Disney is amazing. I can't imagine how many people the busses transfer each day. There are many different types of people on the bus at any time: people from the city, people from the country, people from another county, people with disabilities, men, women, mothers, fathers, and children. It seemed to be a good blend of everyone and everything.

One night at about 10:00pm, the family and I were heading back to our hotel. My wife and children were sitting on one side of the bus and I took a single seat on the other side. The bus driver was loading the bus to capacity. People who were lucky had a seat while others were holding on to the poles. I looked up and saw a mother getting ready to have to hold on to a pole with one hand and her two year old daughter with the other hand. Having ridden the Disney busses a lot prior to this trip, I knew it would be impossible for her to do it without major problems. I caught her attention and offered her and her daughter my seat. She started to cry and her husband offered me money for giving up my seat. I declined the offer and she took the seat. Everyone on the bus applauded. I guess I didn't understand and was embarrassed. Doesn't every man offer his seat to someone who needs it (e.g. mothers with children, senior citizens, someone on crutches)?

Of course, when there is a silver lining a black cloud has to be nearby. When the mother took the seat, a lady who was holding the pole beside my seat started screaming at me. "Why didn't you offer me the seat?" she screamed loud enough for my family and half of the bus to hear.

"Because you didn't need it," I said, "she did."

She asked if it was because she was overweight and had tatoos. I told her no that it was because she was young, didn't have a child to hold on to, and she wouldn't have a problem holding on to the pole. So much for being a gentleman.

I believe that if you do good things, good things will happen to you. Some call it karma, I just call it doing the right thing. So of course when my 8 year old daughter and I were holding the pole the next night, did anyone offer their seat to my daughter? Of course not. I guess they thought she was young, didn't have a child to hold on to, and wouldn't have a problem holding on to the pole. And they were overweight and had tatoos.

The company you keep

I have been hearing a lot about guilt by association lately. People are saying it's unfair to judge someone just because he spends time with people that have questionable or bad reputations. I cannot agree with this assumption.

I remember when I was a boy, I had to introduce all of my friends to my mother. She would ask them about everything from their parents to schoolwork. She wanted to know everything she could about them. Then she would ask her friends if they knew anything my friends. If she came across anything that was debatable, I was no longer allowed to play with them. End of story.

This was especially true when I was in high school. I hung out with guys that smoked marijuana and drank. She asked me if I was getting high or drinking. I told her that I wasn't (which was true). She said that if I kept hanging around with them, I would get the same reputation, deserved or not. And she was right. People I respected started to treat me differently. Of course being a teenager, I didn't care, they were my friends. When I stopped hanging out with them, people started treating me as they did before. What a change.

Let's look at another situation. Would you stand by and watch your child marry someone who won't work, takes drugs, or sleeps around on them? Would you listen to your child say,"I love them and they'll change when we get married" and do nothing? I didn't think so. Why would you be so worried? Could it be because of the reputation your child will get? How about the reputation you may get...

As the old saying goes, "If you sleep with dogs, you'll wake up with fleas." I think nowadays it should be, "If you hang out with trash, you'll walk away with the stink."

Iraq losses are main story

I heard on the news today that there was another homocide bombing in Iraq. I was waiting for a body count of soldiers killed in Iraq since the beginning of the war. I absolutely hate hearing a body count. Having a nephew and someone I coached in baseball fighting over there, I don't want to hear someone keeping score.

I remember as a young boy watching the body counts in the Vietnam War on the CBS Evening News. This isn't a game. These are the finest young men and women doing their jobs as they have been taught to do. They deserve that respect.

As of 3/10/08, according to the website globalsecurity.org, since 2/03 there have been 3,967 deaths in Iraq. Compare that to these other statistics:

According to the New York Times there were 2,752 murders in NYC from 2003 through 2007. According to the Philadelphia Police Department there were 1,853 murders from 2003 through 2007. This is a total of 4,605 murders in two US cities. Do we keep a running total of this?

According to MADD.com, 1,700 students die each year from alcohol related unintentional injuries, including motor crashes. Over a five year period, that would be 8,500 alcohol related deaths. That is twice as many deaths as has happened in Iraq. Is this updated nightly on the national news broadcasts?

I can come up with other statistics that show the loss of life in Iraq is less than many other ways of dying.

While I was a child, a phrase commonly heard was "America, Love it or leave it." I think now it should be "If you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all."

Angry White Man

I heard this article being discussed by Rush Limbaugh last week. I just received this in an email today. Here is the link:

http://www.aspentimes.com/article/2008198091324

After reading the article, I guess that describes me, except for the angry part. I am not really angry. I am just not very tolerant of whiners. I don't want to hear "What about me?" "It's not fair."

I am not a metrosexual (just ask my wife). I have coached my son's baseball and soccer teams. I love playing poker and golf. I go to work every day to make sure my family is taken care of. I just live by the Golden Rule, I try to treat people the way I want to be treated.

Don't tell me you deserve special rights because you're gay. I'm not concerned what you do behind closed doors. Don't tell me you deserve special rights because you're not a white male. No matter who you are, if you get your education and work hard, good things will happen to you. If you don't like someone telling you what to do, be your own boss. The only thing holding you back is you.

You can learn something from everyone you meet. I learn things from my 8 year old daughter and the custodial lady at work. I'm not advocating being naive, I just think life would be better if we just weren't so distrustful.

Indiana's Illegal Immigration Problem

Here in Indiana, the House of Representatives are dealing with a bill that would punish companies that KNOWINGLY hire illegal immigrants. The bill requires employees use a federal system to verify citizenship. If the company violates the law three times in a 10 year period, the state would revoke the business' license.

As usual, the illegal immigrant enablers have come out and called the sponsors of the bill anti-immigrant and racists. The problem I have with this is that the verification would be used for EVERY potential employee. Bob Smith could be illegally here from Toronto. Jose Espinosa could have been born in Seattle, Washington. If you are able to produce the documents needed, you have no problem. If you can't, well...

I had to show my information to my employer when I filled out the I-4 form. I don't think it's too much to ask everybody else do the same.

First time blogger

Greetings to everyone who has stopped by to take a look. I'll tell you a little bit about myself. I am a 45 year old guy who is tired of not having someplace to respond to all of the cultural/political stuff going on today. I will try to update this as often as I can. I am looking forward to letting everyone know how I feel and hearing your responses.
